We are vegetarians

Commensal has grown. For the past 30 years, it has had the claim to fame of being the only vegetarian restaurant chain in Canada, which it maintains today. The brand’s realm has now been redefined, based on the key values and major social concerns of health and nutrition together with social conscience and safety. This new attitude is reflected at all levels of the brand, from its image through to the marketing of its restaurants and food products sold in grocery stores, as well as the very concept of the restaurants.

Commensal defined

Commensal: A person who usually eats at the same table as another or several others.
We are very attached to the meaning of the name Commensal, as it broadly defines the essence of our mission. By opening our table to our customers and sharing with them our love of vegetarianism, we endeavor to offer them the best of who we are.

Our mission: sharing the pleasures of healthy eating

Since 1977, the vegetarian dishes offered by Commensal have continually evolved and the commercial activity surrounding them has grown. Yet, Commensal has never strayed from its primary mission:
