Building on the solid reputation of its vegetarian restaurants, in 1991, Commensal responds to the growing demand from customers wishing to enjoy its quality dishes in the comfort of their homes. Our cooks’ culinary expertise and know-how can therefore be found on supermarket shelves in the refrigerated prepared meals section.

In 1998, Commensal extended its line of prepared meals to include individual frozen meals – combinations based on the Commensal restaurants’ most popular recipes. Today, Commensal offers a selection of 12 individual frozen meals.

Commensal certifies the integrity and quality of the chosen ingredients and guarantees that its products are free of any preservatives and artificial flavourings and colours.

Known for offering prepared meals that are equally delicious, practical and healthy, Commensal joined the Health Check^TM program in 2005. Participation means that a product’s nutritional content has been verified by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and meets specific nutritional criteria based on the recommendations of Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating. The Health Check^TM logo has since been added to the vast majority of our products’ packaging.

The line of products has evolved over time and now includes over thirty prepared dishes, from first course through to dessert.
